"3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves." Ephesians 1:3-6 (NIV)
How awesome is it that Almighty God, who is Lord of all, chose me before the world even began. WOW!!!! Also, we aren't just chosen for the sake of being chosen, we are chosen as adopted sons and daughters. Even though I'm not earthly adopted, I know the process and the meaning of adoption. Parents get to select the child they want. They take the good and the bad. The best about God adopting us is that even though He sees beyond our exterior, He still wants us. He paid that price for us. Praise be to God for His love and compassion. What a great Abba (Daddy) He is!!!!
Last night, I heard this passage preached at Challenge. When I hear about our identity in Christ, I don't feel like it is being spoken to me. However, last night a question really hit me hard. "Will you prefer being chosen by God to being chosen by anybody else?" I've been worried about pleasing people in my life, church, and everything else.
